The Apparent Heir.
The old President, members of Congress, and every other person in the chain of command are taken out. So the Pentagon steps in and appoints a temporary president to handle things until they can hold an election. Poor General Jack.

Because Xander does something, some revelations are brought to light. It ends a lot of the 'weaker' problems Xander's had and makes his spouse step up harder. Angst warning. Small section of it.

Reasons for Yelling Virus Carriers To Yell.
Xander has found a reason to make people who carry that virus 'politician' yell. Everyone from O'Neill down gets to have an opinion this time.

Time For A Hand-Over.
It's finally someone else's turn! Not who you'd expect but they get to hide in Denver.
