Coffey threw a bag to Rom, "Start loading up. Blood, IVs, suture kits, whatever you can think of."

Rom nodded, "On it. Okay, Giles, Maggie. Here's the deal...the three of us are going to stay in here. As soon as Coffey gets her gear, I'm going to seal the door." Rom saw the look on Maggie's face and knew what was coming, "Sorry, Mags. Major's orders. We're about to be overrun and there's no time for arguments."

Giles took his glasses off and set them up on the shelf, "I'd be of more use out there, Sgt. I'm not unaccustomed to such situations."

Rom shook his head as he sealed the med kit. "Sorry, Mr. Giles. We're the last line. The Major is trusting us to keep Maggie safe. I don't like it either, I should be with my Sire, but orders are orders."

"Ooohhh, Rom, you sounded almost grown up. I'm impressed."

"Stuff a sock in it, Coffey, I'm not in the mood." Rom snarled.

Coffey patted him on the shoulder, "I know, sorry, couldn't resist. Give me a hand with this." The medic said as she pulled out a blood kit and handed Rom the tourniquet.

Rom raised one brow as he efficiently tied the rubber strap around Coffey's bicep. Taking the needle rig she handed him he asked, "What's this for?"

Coffey winced slightly as the large bore needle slid home. "I've been thinking..."

"Don't hurt yourself, Coffey."

"Ha ha. Very funny. Now be a good little vamp and extract two of the blue's." She said, nodding at the largest sample tubes.

It took very little time for the rich, dark red blood to fill the tubes. Rom handed Coffey a cotton ball to hold on her arm and took the vials, "What are you going to do with these?"

Coffey opened the cardio kit and took out two of the stainless steel cardio-jacks. "Simple. I'm making a 'speedball' for vampires. Tell me, Mr. Giles, why do vampires always scare their victims before they drain them?"

"I've heard Spike say that fear makes the blood taste better. What are you getting at Sgt. Coffey?"

"Simple. In fear in humans forces the adrenal gland to go into mass production of adrenaline. Humans are capable of incredible feats of strength and speed when their adrenaline levels are high. So...we take a couple doses of pure adrenaline, a touch of morphine, add some blood as a base...and viola! Instant vampire speedball."

Coffey handed Rom one of the jacks, "If it gets ugly, use it."

Rom nodded. "Watch your back Coffey."

"Always."

Spike leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette, hoping no one could see his hands shake. He was still weak and needed to feed and rest for several days before he got back up to snuff, but he wasn't going to tell Xander that. No way was he going to be locked in a room to keep him safe while the others fought to protect him. Besides, he wouldn't miss this for the world.

The vampire ignored the witches as they were led from their cell, he couldn't care less about them, he was waiting for the Slayer and her G.I. Joe boytoy. Spike smirked when Riley was drug from the room by his chains. Spike thought about tripping the asshole, but decided the fact that he was free and Riley was the one in chains was good enough, for now.

Spike hissed when the Slayer was brought out. Throwing his fag onto the floor, he stalked over to her and slowly circled her still form. Running a finger across the steel bit gag in her mouth Spike smiled, "I say, Slayer, this is a good look for you. All tied up and gagged. Ummmm, wish I had a camera, I could make millions selling pictures of you like this. It'd be better if you were naked, but can't have everything, can I?"

Spike laughed when Buffy glared at him, "Ooohhh, Slayer, I'm scared. If looks could kill...but they can't, can they? Too bad." Spike stepped back and let the guards lead her away, slapping her on the ass as she passed. Buffy glared at him over her shoulder and Spike wiggled his fingers at her. "Ta ta, Slayer. Have fun in prison. Maybe you'll get lucky and that psycho bitch Faith will be your roomie."

Buffy lunged and managed to break away from her guards for a second. Spike grabbed her by the throat and lifted her from the floor. "Have a care, Slayer. The chip can't stop me from hurting you anymore." Spike took more than a little bit of pleasure from the fear in her eyes, but he put her down without hurting her. Pushing her back towards the guards he said, "Sorry, Slayer. You're not worth the effort. I'm going to save myself for a worthy opponent. You? You're nothing."

As soon as the door closed behind them, Spike started laughing, "'Cor. I loved that. Thanks, mate."

Xander nodded, trying to keep from grinning, "Glad you liked it, Spike. Don't say I never did anything for you."

Spike leaned closer and smirked, "Well, pet, since we're talking about doing things..."

Xander could have shot Jamison for interrupting them, he really wanted to hear what Spike was going to say. "Hold that thought, Spike. Report, Jamison."

"The transport got away, Major, barely. The hostiles are closing in fast." Looking down at his hand held monitor, Jamison started counting off. "Thirty meters, twenty... they're coming in hot, Major."

Xander suddenly became all business. Keying his throat mike, he gave the order. "Snipers, fire at will. I repeat, fire at will. All other personnel, fall back to the central corridor, we'll hold them here. Jamison...you, Blake and Saunders seal the doors as soon as everyone is clear."

"Yes, Sir."

Coffey slid around the corner and dropped her bags on the floor. She ripped one open, pulled out two bundles of steel rods and the cardio jack she'd made up for Spike. She ran up to the Major, hoping he'd keep her alive after she jabbed Spike in the heart. "Major..." she panted, "I have something for Spike, it'll give him a boost."

Xander looked over at the vampire questioningly. Spike shrugged and nodded. Coffey stepped up to him and looked him in the eye, "Sorry, Spike, but this is going to hurt for a second." Before he had a chance to question her, she shoved the injector into his chest and hit the button. The entire dose dumped straight into his heart and Spike roared in pain. Coffey jumped back, hiding behind the Major and waited to see what Spike would do.

The vampire's face shifted into it's demon form, he took one step towards the medic and then stopped. "Bloody Hell, chit. What was in that thing?" Spike sniffed the air and snarled, "Slayer."

Coffey shook her head rapidly, "Not a Slayer, Spike. The Watchers came to get me and my grandfather taught them some manners. I was never chosen."

Xander whirled around and glared at her, "We'll talk about 'need to know' later, Coffey, right now I want to know what was in that syringe."

"Adrenaline, morphine and some of my blood. I left one with Rom too, just in case. I'm sorry, Major, I was going to tell you about the whole Slayer thing, but then Spike and Rom were taken and there just wasn't time."

Xander sighed and closed his eyes for a minute, "Next time, Coffey, make time. But right now, we have other things to worry about. You get behind us and stay behind us, Coffey, it's going to get bloody in here and I don't have time to make sure you're safe."

Coffey grinned and shook the steel rods out of her hands, letting them extend out to their full length. "Don't worry, Major, I can take care of myself."

Spike's eyes went wide when he realized what the girl held, "I'll be damned, a Kau Sin Ke, haven't seen one of those in years."

Xander's brows went up, "A Kau Sin what?"

Spike pointed at Coffey's chosen weapon, "Chinese steel whip, mate. Nasty things, those are. Can take your head clean off."

Oz looked over Coffey's shoulder and grunted, "Cool."

Xander just shook his head and took the safety off his weapon, "Drool later, guys, it's about to get ugly in here." Xander said as the door at the end of the hall started to bow inwards.

The prisoner transport pulled off to the side of the road and Buffy could hear one of the front doors open. She struggled against the chains holding her, but they wouldn't budge. The doors opened wide and everyone squinted at the sudden bright light shining in their faces.

"Good evening, everyone. Sgt, please release the prisoners. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Captain McIntyre. You'll be working for me now."
